Resolution Games has announced new details about its upcomingDungeons & Dragonsgame, releasing on VR devices and traditional consoles. Back in 2021, Resolution Games launchedDemeo,a cross-platform VR gamethat combined tabletop RPG play with card mechanics. Resolution Games eventually expandedDemeoto include non-VR consoles as well. In 2024, Resolution Games announced it was partnering with Wizards of the Coast to make aD&D-themed VR game. Today, more details about the new game were revealed.
Resolution Gameshas revealed that its collaboration withDungeons & Dragonswill be calledDemeo x Dungeons & Dragons Battlemarked. As the name of the game suggests,Battlemarkedwill utilizeDemeo’s game system, with players spending two action points per round to play cardsthat control their character on a virtual tabletop grid system.

As the official trailer description notes:
“Your next great adventure awaits! Introducing Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked. Created with Resolution Game’s award-winning Demeo Action Roleplaying System, Battlemarked arms you with tactical might and magic to deploy alongside friends as you work co-operatively to vanquish the forces of evil.”
What Is Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked?
According to a press release formally announcing the game,Battlemarkeduses theDemeosystem instead of adaptingD&Drules to the virtual tabletop. However, the game will feature many of the classes, actionsandlore ofDungeons & Dragons,as well as storylines set in two differentD&Dsettings. Initially, the game will include two story-based campaigns, with additional campaigns planned as downloadable content in the future. Battlemarked will be available on a variety of platforms, including PC, console, and XR options.
D&D Reveals 2025 Roadmap, Including The Return Of A Classic Setting
Dungeons & Dragons has announced two new books set for release in 2025, including a new Eberron book and a new mystery book slated for October.
Unlike traditional tabletop roleplaying games,Battlemarkedwill use a DM-less system that focuses on social strategy to figure out moves.Gameplay largely focuses on figuring out the right strategy to use to get through combat, with each player having different combat options to choose from. Assumably,Battlemarkedwill use actualD&Dclasses, with a Rogue, a Wizard, a Bard, and a Fighter visible in the first trailer. Additionally, the game will offer cross-platform support, meaning that players don’t need to find three other people with VR systems (or non-VR systems) to play the new game with.

Our Take: Battlemarked Could Be An Intriguing D&D Game
Adding Dungeons & Dragons To A Game Inspired By D&D Makes A Lot Of Sense
While I’m not the biggest fan of most VR games,I’ll admit that I’ve enjoyedDemeoboth in VR and non-VR form.I’m very curious to see what Resolution Games does with theDungeons & Dragonslicense, given thatDemeoproudly wore itsD&Dinfluences on its sleeves. It appears that the game will bring overD&Delements like a 20-sided dice, which could also spice up the traditionalDemeogameplay. This is oneDungeons & Dragonsgame I’ll be keeping an eye on.
