Wickedstar Cynthia Erivo revealed that going to the bathroom was way too hard once she was in full costume for the film.Wickedserves as a prequel toThe Wizard of Ozand is based on the hit Broadway stage play of the same name and the 1995 novelWicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. In the movie,Erivo plays Elphaba, who later becomes known as the Wicked Witch of the West. In a recent appearance on theSentimental Menpodcast (viaEntertainment Weekly), Erivo discussed how hard it was to go to the bathroom while wearing her Elphaba costume. She had to wear a black cloak, a pointy witch’s hat, and a corset underneath. I don’t go to the bathroom. Once I’m in my costume — and this is probably a terrible idea — and the harness is on, I’m not doing it… I’m not dealing with it. There’s too many layers. I’m not dealing with it. I’m not going to the bathroom. It is what it is.
Those days were really interesting because once you’re in the harness, you don’t want to come out of the harness, because it takes forever to get everything prepped again. Those days can be really… big. They can be really exhausting, because your body is being put through the strangest things.
