I’ve always enjoyed editing photos, and over time, I’ve realized that the built-in photo editor on my Samsung Galaxy phone offers everything I need. It’s packed with powerful features that make editing quick, easy, and effective. At this point, third-party tools just feel redundant to me.

1Object Eraser to Remove Shadows and Reflections

One of the things I love most about the built-in photo editor on my Samsung phone is that it offers more than just basic options like cropping, rotating, or adding filters. For example, it includes a handy object eraser tool that allows me to remove shadows and reflections from my photos with just a few taps.

All I have to do is open the image in the Gallery app’s photo editor, tap theToolstab (the icon with four squares arranged in a grid), and selectObject Eraser. From there, I can choose either theErase ShadowsorErase Reflectionsoption, depending on what I want to remove.

2Resize, Reposition and Remove Objects With Galaxy AI

Another major reason I stick with the built-in photo editor on my Samsung phone is that it’s powered by Galaxy AI. With it, I can effortlessly resize, reposition, andremove objects in my photos.

For example, if I want to move an object in a picture, all I need to do is tap theGalaxy AI iconin the photo editor, then tap and hold the object I want to adjust. Once the app detects it, I can use the corners to resize it or simply drag it to a different spot. If I want to remove it altogether, I can do so by tapping theeraser icon.

Galaxy AI not only removes the object but also intelligently fills the space with matching textures and colors from the surrounding environment, making the edit look completely natural.

3Generative Edit to Fill the Background

Since I’m not that good at taking pictures, my photos don’t always come out perfectly straight. Sometimes, objects get accidentally cut off, or the subject ends up off-center. That’s where the Generative Edit tool on my Samsung phone comes in handy.

With this feature, I can tap theGalaxy AIicon in the photo editor, use the tilt lever to align the image perfectly, and then hitGenerate. The AI analyzes the surrounding elements and intelligently fills in any incomplete or misaligned areas. Whether it’s fixing a crooked horizon, filling in the background, or adjusting an awkward crop, it works impressively well.

4Sketch to Image

Another incredible AI feature in Samsung’s photo editor is Sketch to Image. If I have an idea for something I want to add to an image—whether it’s a specific object, shape, or design—I can tap theGalaxy AI iconand selectSketch to Image.

From there, I simply draw a rough sketch on the screen and hitGenerate. Galaxy AI then analyzes my sketch and transforms it into a fully realized object that seamlessly fits into the photo.

What I like most about this feature is that it gives me different variations to choose from, so I can pick the one that works best for my image. I’m always amazed at how accurately the tool interprets my simple doodles and turns them into realistic images that match the style and context of the photo.

5Adding Stickers, Emojis and Text to Photos

Although apps like Instagram make it easy to add emojis and stickers to photos, I usually rely on the photo editor in the Gallery app to avoid constantly switching between apps.

Whether I want to add a cute emoji, a fun sticker, or something a bit more quirky, I can do it all by heading toDecorations > Stickersin the photo editor. If I’m feeling more creative, I can also add text and adjust the font, size, and color to perfectly match the mood or theme of the image.

6Face Effects to Remove Red Eyes, Blemishes, and More

The Samsung photo editor also helps me with some of the finer details in my photos. If I’m looking to enhance portraits or selfies, I can head toTools > Face Effectsand adjust things like face smoothness, tone, jawline, and more.

One feature I especially appreciate is the ability to fix blemishes and remove red eyes in just a few taps. Whether it’s a pimple I’d rather not have in the shot or the typical red-eye from a flash, I can quickly touch up those imperfections without needing a separate app.

7Portrait Studio AI to Create Stunning Portraits

Portrait Studio AI is another fun feature I love using from time to time. It allows me totransform any of my selfiesinto something unique and creative, like a comic-style portrait, a 3D cartoon, a sketch, or even a watercolor version of myself.

The process is super easy—I simply open my selfie in the photo editor, tap theGalaxy AI icon, and select thePortrait Studiooption. From there, I can choose from a variety of styles—Comic,3D Cartoon,Watercolor, orSketch—and then let the AI work its magic.

8Enhancing Photos With a Tap

For those times when I’m not in the mood to put in the effort of editing a photo, I can rely on the Samsung photo editor to enhance it for me. All it takes is heading to theTonetab and tapping theAutobutton.

The photo editor automatically tweaks elements like brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, and more, making the photo look vibrant and polished—all without me having to do anything.

9Copy and Paste Edits

Editing photos can quickly become tedious if I have to redo the same adjustments over and over for multiple pictures. Fortunately, the Gallery app on my Samsung phonehas a feature that makes this process so much easier.

Once I’ve made adjustments to a photo that I want to apply to others, I can tap thethree-dot menuin the top corner and selectCopy edits. Then, I can select other photos to which I want to apply the same edits, tap the three-dot menu again, and choosePaste edits. It’s that simple.

From removing unwanted objects to creating stunning portraits, my Samsung phone offers all the editing tools I could ask for. As a result, I rarely find myself needing to usethird-party photo editing appsanymore.
