If you have a Tesla, you’re limited to a few exterior color options just like everybody else. Well, Tesla is now offering vinyl wraps to its customers who want to try something different. What do you need to know about it?
What Is a Tesla Vinyl Wrap?
According toTesla, its vinyl wrap is made of “urethane-based film,” which is a more eco-conscious alternative to conventional vinyl wraps. It doesn’t just make your Tesla look rare and exquisite, but it can shield the paint against scratches, chips, and swirls.
Tesla says that the vinyl wrap is only available in seven colors, which include Slip Grey, Crimson Red, Forest Green, Satin Ceramic White, Glacier Blue, Satin Rose Gold, and Satin Stealth Black. However, the Tesla Vinyl Wrap is only available if you own thenew 2023 Tesla Model 3and Model Y from the 2023 model year.

How Much Does the Tesla Vinyl Wrap Cost?
The Tesla vinyl wrap will cost you $7,500 or $8,000, depending on the color you choose. The cost is also inclusive of the material and installation. This is slightly more expensive than aftermarket vinyl wraps that cost between $1,000 and $6,000 on average. However, if you want a clear wrap with no color, it will cost you $5,000.
At the moment, Tesla owners can only install the vinyl wrap at select service centers in Carlsbad and West Covina in California.

Is a Tesla Vinyl Wrap Worth the Money?
If you don’t mind the price, a Tesla vinyl wrap could make your Tesla Model 3 or Model Y stand out from the crowd. It could also be a good idea if you want toincrease the resale value of your Tesla EV.
But if you think paying $7,500 or $8,000 is too much for a vinyl wrap, Tesla offers four different paint options on the Model 3 or Model Y—but will it cost you an extra $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000.

Besides that, theTesla Cybertruck is expected to be delivered by 2024, and the vinyl wrap could be a solution for customers who want more options than the bare stainless-steel exterior. However, Tesla has yet to confirm if it will be available in its other models, including the Cybertruck.
The EV Tax Credit Should Cover Your Cost for a Tesla Vinyl Wrap
Both the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 qualify for the full federal EV tax credit of up to $7,500, which is almost the same price as the Tesla vinyl wrap. This means that you could cover the cost of installing the vinyl wrap if you’re eligible for the EV tax credit.
