Summary
One of the first choices players can make inF1 Manager 2024is which powertrain to use for their cars, but this decision will have a lasting impact on their entire first season. When starting a new save file, players can choose from two options, either playing as an existing team or creating their own usingF1 Manager’s new Create-A-Team mode. Within Create-A-Team, they can further choose from one of five Origins, each of which sets their stats to reflect a particular scenario, or “Your Story,” which allows them to design their own stats.
Choosing “Your Story” is the only way to design anF1 Manager 2024car from scratch in the first season, and in doing so, the most important choice players will make is the one of powertrain. This is effectively the car’s engine, and there are four different manufacturers to choose from: Ferrari, Renault, Honda, or Mercedes. Each powertrain has its own unique stats that determine the car’s performance, and each has a unique group of strengths and weaknesses that set it apart from the rest of the pack. But one comes out on top. Here’s everything to know about powertrains inF1 Manager 2024.

Which Powertrain You Should Choose In F1 Manager 2024
The Best Powertrain In F1 2024
Of all four options,Mercedes is the best powertrain inF1 Manager 2024for most intents and purposes. This is mostly due to a convergence of three vital stats: engine, Energy Recovery System (ERS), and gearbox durability. Mercedes excels in all three categories, making it the most reliable powertrain option in the game. It’s a solid choice for almost every player, especiallyF1 Managementnewcomers, because of its ability to avoid mechanical hiccups that other powertrain manufacturers are much more prone to.
Inprevious editions ofF1 Manager, mechanical failures were exceptionally rare. Cars could reliably get down to as low as 20% condition without shutting down. These could be devastating when they did happen, effectively removing a car from the current race entirely, and likely incurring astronomical repair charges after the fact. But they just didn’t occur at a realistic rate. Watch even a handful of F1 races, and a mechanical failure is bound to occur before long; but inF1 Manager 2022and2023, they would almost never come up.

Players are locked into their powertrain choices for an entire season; they can only change them at the beginning of the following year.
However,F1 Manager 2024addresses this criticism by increasing the frequency of mechanical failures. That means a greater risk of DNFs across the board. The best way to mitigate that risk is by choosing a powertrain with high durability, and in that category, Mercedes comes first. This will ensure a consistent top speed, ability to overtake other cars, and gear-switching mechanism for any car that uses a Mercedes powertrain.

Lee Mather, the creative director at Codemasters, discusses the biggest changes and improvements made in the upcoming racing game F1 24.
Besides durability, Mercedes is also decent in all its other stats, and can easily compete with the other options. Its one downside is itslow fuel efficiency. In that category, the Mercedes powertrain is rated 50, the lowest of all options. That means players will need to manage their fuel more carefully throughout the race, which isn’t the end of the world. They may not be constantly running at maximum power, but with a lower risk of mechanical failure and respectable stats across the board, they’ll still be able to rack up a respectable record of wins.

A Breakdown Of All Create-A-Team Attributes
Although the Mercedes powertrain is best for most players, others will certainly choose different options. This may be motivated by another stat they prefer, or simply by brand loyalty. Whatever the case, the table below can help make an informed decision, containingall the stats for every single powertrain inF1 Manager 2024. Note that Mercedes leads healthily in three out of five stats, has the second-best finish last season, and has a power rating only slightly lower than the top two.
