Summary

Palworldhas introduced a new virtual currency called Dog Coins in itsSakurajimaupdate, whose origins and purpose are not totally clear.Sakurajimarepresents the biggest change toPalworldsince its initial release, with a whole new island to explore, newPals like Sootseer to catch, and a new collectible currency.

Dog Coins exist separately fromPalworld’s Gold Coins. Although they share some similarities, they’re obtained by different means, found in different places, and used for different purposes. Players of the newSakurajimaupdate may collect several before they even find out to do with them, while others may struggle to understand how to find them. For all intents and purposes, this is everything to know about Dog Coins inPalworld’sSakurajimaupdate.

What Dog Coins Are For In Palworld: Sakurajima

How To Find & Spend Dog Coins

In short,Palworld’s new Dog Coins are an alternative form of currency that can only be used to purchase items from MedalMerchants. These exclusive storefronts sell rare items, including powerful equipment, mystery boxes, and permanent stat boosts for Pals and trainers alike. Other than that, they work almost exactly like regular Gold Coins. They can be found in random locations throughout the overworld and dungeons. They’re occasionally rewarded for catching certain Pals or defeating certain enemies.

Medal Merchants only accept Dog Coins, and Dog Coins can only be spent at Medal Merchants.

It’s also important to note thatDog Coins are not obtained via microtransactions. They can only be found organically in the game; players don’t even have the option to spend real-world money on them if they want to. Some have raised concerns that the advent of Dog Coins suggests the future addition of microtransactions toPalworld- it’s understandable, given what the introduction of a secondary currency to an online game usually portends. However, at the time of writing, Dog Coins are exclusively found in-game, not purchased.

However, unlike the more static merchants in the base game,Palworld’s Medal Merchants move around the map, and are scarcely found in the same place twice. However, they usually lurk near ruins that are adjacent to Statues of Power. That means they can usually be found near half-crumbled churches. Players can pretty reliably find them near the Desolate Church, Sea Breeze Archipelago Church, Marsh Island Church, and Forgotten Island Church.

They all seem to have the same inventory, so players don’t need to worry about blowing all their Dog Coins on an exclusive item the first time they see it; they’ll have another opportunity to buy it the next time they meet a Medal Merchant.

How To Farm Dog Coins In Palworld: Sakurajima

Easy Ways To Find Dog Coins

There are several fairly easy, organic ways to find Dog Coins without changing much about one’s normalPalworldplaystyle. The first and the easiest way to farm Dog Coins is to find a Junkyard, which aptly resembles a pile of scraps. These new gathering hubs are exclusive to theSakurajimaupdate. They work just like all other item collection points, and humans and Pals can search them for Dog Coins alike. They’re most often found in desert biomes, but spawn randomly throughout the entire map.

Besides Dog Coins, Junkyards will also reward other useful items like chest keys, Pal Spheres, ammo, crafting materials, and even Gold.

Players can also find Dog Coins by battling or catching a Mimog, one of thenew Pals in theSakurajimaupdate. These treasure chest-shaped, Mimic-inspired Pals can be found throughout the Palpagos Islands. Besides dropping Dog Coins, they also have a useful skill that allows them to open locked treasure chests without keys.Human enemies will also drop Dog Coins on defeatfrom time to time; Syndicate Thugs seem to be the most frequent targets.

Pokémon’s New Rival Has All The Ingredients For An Anime That Could Finally Compete With The World’s Biggest Franchise

Sony and its subsidiary Aniplex look intent on turning Palworld into a franchise. While it may be easy to write off, an anime could stand on its own.

Other than that, players will also often find Dog Coins among the myriad rewards intreasure chests. This is probably the least reliable way to farm Dog Coins, as chests are incredibly rare, often situated in dangerous locations, and may require additional items to open. They’re not even guaranteed to contain Dog Coins, but can occasionally supplement a more sustained coin-collecting effort.

Armed with this knowledge, it should be easy for players to collect an abundance of Dog Coins, and start spending them on whatever rare items their hearts desire. These new materials may not be easy to come by, but since they can be used to purchase some of the best upgrade items and equipment inPalworld, they can be considered a necessity.
