Saving space on your desk is always important when working from home. The Twelve South BookArc Flex places any MacBook or laptop under one inch thick into a vertical orientation so you can use a larger external display while at home. The stand looks great, takes up minimal room, and requires no adjustment like other competitors.
Twelve South BookArc Flex
The Twelve South BookArc Flex provides a great way to hold your MacBook (or any other laptop that’s under one inch thick) in a vertical position with the screen closed. Available in three color options, there’s no need to adjust the stand or use inserts. Just place the laptop in the vertical position, and the stand will protect the device. All ports remain available to use.
A Truly Flexible Way to Keep Your MacBook Safe
Twelve South has always been known for its well-designed and easy-to-use Apple accessories. And the BookArc Flex continues that trend.
There are two major types of laptop stands. One type allows you to keep your laptop open and accessible while attaching cords for an external monitor and other accessories. While you may use your laptop as a second monitor, those types of stands take up a substantial amount of space and don’t work well for smaller desks.

The BookArc Flex is a vertical stand. As you probably could guess by the name, it places your laptop in a vertical orientation with the screen closed. External ports, like Thunderbolt and HDMI, remain accessible to attach peripherals.
While this stand type takes up much less space, you won’t be able to use your laptop as a secondary monitor. But if you have a large external monitor, that’s a tradeoff most people are willing to make.

BookArc Flex is available in three different colors—black, white, and a premium chrome model that costs an extra $10. All three look great, but won’t stand out on your desk. I used the black version, and was very pleased with its modern styling.
The downside of most vertical stands is that you just can’t place your laptop inside it and expect a strong hold. For example, a current-generation MacBook Air is much slimmer than an older MacBook Pro. Most stands offer some type of adjustment or inserts that require extra work to get a good fit.

But there’s no need to worry about that with the BookArc Flex. It’s compatible with any laptop that measures less than one inch thick and with a screen up to 16 inches. That’s the vast majority of Apple and even Windows laptops.
When you’re ready to use the stand, you’ll place your laptop in the center. Thanks to the unique flexible design, the weight of the laptop will then pull the sidebars in and clamp down for a secure fit. Small pads near the center of the stand help protect the exterior of your laptop.

Space-Saving Perfection
I tried the BookArc Flex with three laptops: a smaller MacBook Air, a larger MacBook Pro, and a Windows laptop. The stand held all three without any issue or movement. I just placed each laptop in the center and the stand took care of the rest.
The MacBook Pro is my usual machine, and I used the stand with it for a few days. I usually have a larger horizontal stand on my desk, but I really enjoyed the small footprint of the BookArc Flex. I had more room to spread out while still using my large external monitor.
Once I attached an HDMI and Thunderbolt cable, I tried to tug at them and see how strong the stand was. I was honestly a bit surprised that my MacBook Pro didn’t move a bit.
The flexible design also works great when you need to unplug your MacBook and take it on the go. Unlike many traditional vertical stands, you won’t need to twist a knob or remove an insert that might get lost. I just removed my MacBook from the stand.
And if you change your laptop, you can be confident the BookArc Flex will work with that too.
Twelve South BookArc Flex: A Simple and Beautiful Winner
It’s hard to go wrong with the Twelve South BookArc Flex. While it’s somewhat more expensive than other similar options, being able to place any MacBook or laptop inside without needing to adjust the stand makes it worth the extra cost. And it looks great in either of the three available colors.
Make sure to put it on the top of your list if you’re looking for a MacBook stand for your desk, and know it will work now and in the future.
