Today’s Connections Category Hints

APRIL 06 #665

If you are trying to figure out what the categories are, seeing a few hints to guide you in the right direction may help. I have a few different clues down below that you can use to do just that. This puzzle is interesting,as is any puzzle where the yellow category is not the first one I see. That usually makes me quite nervous, but this one wasn’t quite as bad as I feared once I saw a key word.

___ JOINT

REMOTE

RESERVED

This one nearly got me, for whatever reason, as I didn’t think COOL would go here for some reason my brain conjured up. Or perhaps my brain simply forgot thatCOOL could be a personality trait for a moment. Either way, I was able to salvage the situation eventually, but it was a near thing, and I was worried for a little bit that I would lose the streak I had just begun to reclaim. Luckily, that wasn’t the case, and I was able to get out of my sticky situation.

TRASH

WATER

This one just made feel nervous becausethese are the bane of my existence at the end and beginning of every month. I’m sure that many of you feel the same, but I was able to recognize it fairly easily once I came to it because of that anxiety. It is unfortunate, and I would like the world to be a place where these things aren’t quite as stressful and so recognizable upon sight, but that doesn’t look to be the case anytime soon.

8 NYT Spelling Bee Strategies To Keep Your Streak Alive

The Spelling Bee puzzles created as a New York Times game build a streak of correct answers to get you more points, but they can be hard to keep.

RESISTANCE

VOLTAGE

This one is very tied to the previous category, covering the one utility that wasn’t covered in that category. It made for a very stressful puzzle to be perfectly honest, and I wish the editors had at least separated these into separate puzzles with happier categories around them. It’s not the end of the world, and at least we have gotten them out of the way. It’s an odd puzzle all around, as you can tell from the last category.

PIZZA

SPIKE LEE

I don’t think I would’ve put this category together on my own if I hadn’t come to it last. Luckily, I did, andI am continuing to learn new things throughConnectionsquite often. I have done some woodworking before, but I never had to make a joint, so I hadn’t heard of that use of the word DOVETAIL. I also hadn’t heard of SPIKE LEE’s movies in that particular phrase before either, but now I have, and it’s a fun new fact for me.
