Sometimes, to get aConnectionspuzzle right, you need to expand your definitions of the words in the table. Common words have a lot more meanings than people will necessarily know off the top of their heads, and it isimportant to think outside the boxwhen you are trying to connect them. Today’s puzzle will ask you to do so for some of the categories, and we have a few hints to help you do so.
If you likeConnections, you may also have a knack for theNYTTilesgame, in which players have to match various images to keep a long streak going. This will be fun for playerswhohave an eye for detail and who like the instant dopamine rushyou have when you get a pair correct. It is very satisfying, and players should have a great time matching various tiles until they complete the puzzle.

Today’s Connections Category Hints
July 30 #414
If you want a few hints for today’s puzzle, we have you covered. This puzzle is not overly complex, but it does have some words that are deceptive. So, with that in mind, here are some hints as to what the categories are:
If those hints are still too vague, we have more hints for you below. You can view the category names in the box below or keep scrolling down for the answers for each category.

SUPER
SWELL
Whensomething is “Peachy Keen” things are going SWELL. SUPER is also a good adjective here, but NIFTY and NEAT feel slightly off in this category. Nevertheless, as they are all still in the same general ballpark, I was able to guess that they went together. While it is a bit of an odd choice of words, they make some sense.
EXPLAIN
SPECIFY
While some later words seem to fit the vibe in this category,no other verbs seem to have the same meanings. To ELABORATE is to EXPAND, and to EXPLAIN is to SPECIFY. This made it one of the easier categories for me today, as it felt like the most cohesive and obvious grouping of words. However, I could see where some of those other words were close enough to make things confusing at first.
5 Letter Words Wordle Hasn’t Used Yet (Updated Daily)
Wordle, the popular word-guessing game hosted by The New York Times, has over 1,700 words remaining as possible solutions.
GIFT
KNACK
If you have a FLAIR for something, you tend to have a natural ability or talent for something. GIFT, KNACK, and FACILITY all have similar meanings. However, the wordFACILITY could easily belong in the last category, and this is a lesser-known meaning. I happened to remember it being used in an earlierConnectionspuzzle with a similar meaning, so the puzzle played itself on this one.
COMPOUND
DEVELOPMENT
This being the last category and with FACILITY safely out of the way, it was easy to choose the remaining pieces.COMPLEX and DEVELOPMENT are some of the tricky wordsin this category, as they do have a similar vibe to the words in the green category. However, the big hint is that neither is a verb, and both have an architectural meaning.
