Destro#2 – Written By Dan Watters; Art By Andrei Bressan, Adriano Lucas & Rus Wooton

Destro confronts Tomax and Xamot on a remote island where the military superpowers of the world have dumped their old ordinance – the perfect thematic landscape for such a meeting to take place.

Having two ofG.I. Joe’s most prominent villainslocked in a war before joining Cobra is an interesting plot twist, to say the least. It’s not surprising for long-time fans, though, who are used to seeing the various personalities within Cobra constantly trying to backstab each other in a vainglorious grasp for power. Destro himself has always carried the ambition of being the top dog, as he was often attempting to find ways to unseatCobra Commander from his throne of power. So far,the Energon Universe versionseems to have the same ambitions.

What’s interesting about this scene is howthe Crimson Twins continue to plead their innocence in the attack on Darklonia in the previous issue, which kicked the whole conflict off in the first place. Destro assumes that Tomax and Xamot are lying, but their unwillingness to bend is interesting, and raises some intriguing questions.
