Summary
That ’90s Showstar Callie Haverda has provided an alarming tease for the ending of Part 3, and it has me very concerned for some of the characters fromThat ’70s Show. Part 2, which is the first batch of episodes for season 2, left off with something of a cliffhanger as well, but Haverda hints that the Part 3 ending—the season 2 finale—will be far heavier. While I’m intrigued to discover what she’s referring to, I can’t help but worry that something dubious is on the way and thatThat ’90s Showseason 3 would be heading in a whole new direction.
Haverda plays Leia Forman inThat ’90s Show, the daughter of Eric and Donna who returns to Point Place, Wisconsin, to stay with her grandparents every summer. Season 1 saw this adventure pick up in 1995, while the first part of season 2, which Netflix has dubbedThat ’90s ShowPart 2, is set in 1996. However, these eight episodes only take Leia and her friends through the first half of the summer.Part 3, which releases on July 10, 2025, will pick up where they left off and the finale should be set just before Leia heads back to Chicago for another school year.

That ’90s Show Part 2 Ending Explained: What’s Next For Leia & The Gang
Leia and her friends have a lot to work with in the coming episodes of That ’90s Show as the first part of season 2 comes to a chaotic close.
Callie Haverda Says That That ’90s Show Part 3’s Ending Is “Scary”
It Looks Like There Are Some Emotional Moments Coming Our Way
In aninterview following the release ofThat ’90s ShowPart 2, Haverda spoke on her experience filming the finale of Part 3. Rather than the comedic ending of Part 2, which saw a car crash into the Forman kitchen,it seems that the next installment of the Netflix series will wrap up on a more emotional note. Haverda went as far as to say that the final scene was “definitely scary” with an “edge of sadness.” She also made it clear thatThat ’90s ShowPart 3 would end in a cliffhanger that left her crying:
I remember just filming it, we were all very, very emotional. Not only because we had just finished the season, but the way that we leave off on Part 3 is definitely scary. I have high hopes, though, if we do get a season 3, which hopefully we will, fingers crossed, I think that everything will be resolved. But there is a big moment at the end of Part 3, and it’s really bittersweet.

They are having a great time, but there’s definitely this edge of sadness with it. And we were all emotional while we were filming it, so the emotion will probably come through in the scene. And I remember when we wrapped filming that scene, I just started crying, and we’d have to hold it together to finish. That lovely feeling of the family being all together, the gang, but also the cliffhanger that we’re left on, I think it makes a great emotional moment.
I’m Worried Something Might Happen To Red, Kitty, Or Bob In That ’90s Show Part 3
Red’s Heart Palpitations In That ’90s Show Part 2 Might Set Up A More Tragic Story
Though we can only speculate about this “scary” ending inThat ’90s ShowPart 3, I can’t shake the feeling that it will involve one of the adult characters fromThat ’70s Show. Red and Kitty Forman and Bob Pinciotti make up the heart and soul of the series, anda cliffhanger that sees any one of them go through a sort of medical emergency would certainly fit Haverda’s descriptionof this big event. Part 3 could end with the lives of one of these three in the balance, as the gang ofThat ’90s Showcome together to support one another through such the difficult time.
Based on the existing clues inThat ’90s ShowPart 2, I would guess that Red Forman would be the one in danger. He experienced heart palpitations in Part 2, Episode 7, “Baby-Baby-Baby,” and learned an important lesson about living life to the fullest while he could. This could set up a more severe heart attack in Part 3. What’s more, the return of Bob Pinciotti could be a sign that something will happen to Red, since Don Stark’s character could fill his shoes if actor Kurtwood Smith has decided to step away fromThat ’90s Showfor good.

Kurtwood Smith (81) still actively takes roles in movies and TV, though it’s certainly possible that he will retire from acting in the coming years.
A Cliffhanger Involving Beloved That ’70s Show Characters Would Be a Huge Risk
Would Audiences Return For That ’90s Show Season 3?
While I can’t help but feel that Haverda’s words aboutThat ’90s ShowPart 2’s ending could be a sign that somethingterrible will happen to Red Forman, there is evidence to indicate otherwise as well. If Red were actually to be killed off the series, it could only be because the actor who portrays him no longer wants to take part in the show—not for creative reasons. However, Haverda’s statement that she has confidence that “everything will be resolved” doesn’t quite align with this. If Smith were leaving for good, surely she would know about it.
Though the teenage cast of the spinoff series has begun to win audiences over, the adults from That ’70s Show still serve as the primary comedic appeal.

Even if this teased “scary” ending involves either Red, Kitty, or Bob in a less permanent way, such as through an injury or illness they would recover from in Part 4, it would be a significant risk forThat ’90s Show. Though the teenage cast of the spinoff series has begun to win audiences over, the adults fromThat ’70s Showstill serve as the primary comedic appeal. Putting them through an emotionally heavy ending could damage this dynamic, thus reducing the likelihood that audiences will return to the series. Of course, all we can really do is wait until October to find out for sure.
That ’90s Show
Cast
That ’70s Show returns set two decades later with That ’90s Show, acting as a sequel but bringing back old cast favorites. Led by Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) Forman, the new cast arrives as the next generation, with the daughter of Eric and Donna, Leia Forman, leading the charge. Spending the summer with her grandparents, Leia makes new friends and forges new bonds in Point Place, Wisconsin. That ’70s Show series regulars make cameos in the show to maintain that sense of familiarity, and the show adopts the conventions of the ’90s as expected. That ’90s Show first aired on Netflix with a total of ten episodes.
