Meg Donnelly: To play Supergirl has always been a dream of mine in any way, so the animation was incredible. When I heard talks of there being a live action version in the DCU, I fought for the audition, like so much like it was just all I wanted and putting my energy towards. I ended up getting one and just the fact that they watched it and liked it, it’s just really surreal. I was able to go and screen test, do stunt work and scenes, it was really surreal and just really emotional that I got to do that.

It doesn’t feel real, the whole time, I was freaking out because it felt like a dream come true. Just being a little kid, I never thought that I would be able to do anything like this, because I love superheroes and superhero movies so much. They ended up going like a different direction which is totally fine, and I am so excited for the movie anyways, I’m such a big fan of James Gunn and his team. They’re just the nicest people in the world, so yeah, it was great, it was such an incredible experience that I just hold nothing but joy from.

10 DCU Characters Meg Donnelly Could Play After Losing Supergirl

Meg Donnelly might not have been cast as the DC Universe’s Supergirl, but the actress could still join the DCU as one of a few exciting heroes.

Meg Donnelly Wants To Be Cast In The DCU Reboot

While Donnelly may not get to play Supergirl in live-action,Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters"could offer her another chance to be cast in DC’s live-action. In the same interview withScreen Rant, Donnelly was asked about perhaps taking on a different DC role and she expressed interest in the prospect.

Donnelly, who is also known for her performance as Mary onThe Winchesters, was asked about her former co-star Drake Rodger wanting to play Nightwing in Gunn’s DC Universe. With suggestions that Donnelly should play Batgirl alongside Rodger as Nightwing, the Tomorrowverse star was more than enthusiastic, saying"Yes! As literally anything, I’m such a huge fan of James Gunn and also what they’re doing with the DC Universe so any way I can be involved would just be incredible.“Even if it wasn’t Batgirl, Donnelly added that"just being able to play a superhero on screen would really be a dream come true.”

As Donnelly is open to revisiting the DC realm, it would be fun to see her make the jump from animation to live-action, even in a different DC gig. With the vast variety of superheroes that exist in DC Comics, there are plenty of great fits for Donnelly down the line. And whileSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowdidn’t work out for her, Donnelly’s DC Universe debut will hopefully become a reality in the future.
