Summary

The Jedi Knights are legendary in the world ofStar Wars, and this cosplay is bringing them back to their roots. Obi-Wan Kenobi speaks of his time as a Jedi with reverence, inspiring Luke to take up a lightsaber of his own. Though the Jedi had been almost entirely wiped out by the time Luke travels to Alderaan to save Princess Leia, their reputation for nobility stood the test of time. Luke goes on to reignite the ways of the Jedi, something that will continue to grow whenRey re-establishes the Jedi Academy.

CosplayerAthenaposted her dramatic cosplay onTikTok, showing off her Medieval-themed detailed armor and weapon.

With the words, “I need medieval Star Wars in my life,” the cosplay perfectly blends the two worlds together against the backdrop of a sunset. The video’s caption, “Whos excited for the Acolyte,” connects real-world history to the richtimeline established byThe Acolyte. Athena’s lightsaber hilt is far more detailed and ornate than the metallic model usually seen inStar Warsmovies, looking instead like the glowing weapon of a real knight in shining armor.

The Jedi Take Inspiration From Medieval Knights

The feudal system of the Medieval knights heavily inspired the Jedi when George Lucas created their Code. The Jedi might not ride horses or wear armor made of metal, but they embody the heroics of these storybook fables.Jedi are bound to protect the less powerful around them, devoting themselves to upholding justice. After the events ofOrder 66, they became like myths, with many of the galaxy’s citizens believing the Jedi to belong only to the past. However,Star Warsperiodically explores the timeline when the Jedi were much more organized and widespread.

Though the Jedi’s primary role was to keep the peace in the galaxy, the Jedi could also be fierce warriors. Just like their Medieval counterparts, the Jedi are honor-bound to protect the galaxy they serve, putting their own needs behind those of strangers. Though the Jedi have been long gone by the time of the originalStar Warstrilogy, the series is full of other installments that fill in the details of the time period during which the Jedi thrived.
