Star Wars: The 30 Most Powerful Sith

The corruptive dark side of the Force in the Star Wars galaxy brought forth some of the most powerful Sith Lords in both canon and Legends.

Dromund Kaas Was The Capital Of The Sith Empire In Legends

The Sith Home Base From Legends Explained

Dromund Kaas is a planet that first appeared in Legends video games likeStar Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces IIandStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The planet was initially colonized by the Sith Empire before being lost. Just after the Great Hyperspace War in 5000 BBY, Dromund Kaas was rediscovered once more by Sith Lord Vitiate.

Vitiate, as the Sith Emperor, recolonized Dromund Kaas and began using it as an HQ for the Sith Empire. Forming the Dark Council, Vitiate and 12 other Sith Lords began ruling the Empire with the planet Dromund Kaas at its center. Eventually, the Sith Empire revealed itself and fought against the Republic in the Great Galactic War, ending with the bombardment of the planet.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic tells the story of the Star Wars universe long before the Skywalker family altered the fate of the galaxy. The player assumes control of Revan, an amnesiac Force user who finds themselves thrown into the center of the ancient struggle between the Jedi and the Sith. An open-world RPG that allows the player to explore a galaxy of planets, KOTOR puts an emphasis on player choice: Revan must decide whether to save the galaxy, or conquer it.

Dromund Kaas Is Now Canon… And Key To The Sith, Too

This Story Was Once Only A Thing Of Legend

Now, Dromund Kaas has been made part ofStar Warscanon. While the aforementioned stories about the planet have not been explicitly dubbed canon, the planet itself is at least part of mainlineStar Warscontinuity and key to the Sith known from the Skywalker Saga. The canonization of Dromund Kaas, and its importance to major Sith characters, was revealed inThe Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, a book written from an in-universe perspective that explores the formation and destruction of the Empire.

In this book, Dromund Kaas is mentioned:

“It appears, given our preliminary surveys, that Palpatine had spent years, either before or after his ‘death’ at Endor, gathering up relics from worlds that had previously been thought to be myths like Moraband (or Korriban as it is referred to in Sith texts) and Dromund Kaas.”

As evidenced, Dromund Kaas possesses relics that were important for Palpatine’s plans post-Return of the Jedi. Not only is the Sith capital now made part ofStar Warscanon, but it even held dark side artifacts that proved vital to Palpatine regaining his powers after being defeated at the hands of Anakin Skywalker.
