Lydia’s status as a town legend inBeetlejuice 2makes the fate of her family even sadder, as her desire for answers has driven a wedge between her and her daughter. In the trailer, Astrid is harassed by her classmates about her mother’s obsession with ghosts and the dead.Another character asks if Astrid is related to Lydia and claims that she is a “legend”,a sentiment Astrid seems uncomfortable with. Astrid later tells her mother that there is no such thing as ghosts, just gullible people, implying that this is an argument that the two have had many times.
