Rock On: Upcoming Sonos Speakers Will Reportedly Be Named Era 300, Era 100
It’s a new Era for smart speaker pioneer Sonos. A recent report is shining a light on two upcoming models.

According toThe Verge, Sonos is preparing to debut two new speakers sometime in 2023: the Era 300 and Era 100.
Along with reporting on the names of the speakers, the site also pointed to arecent documentfrom TV accessory manufacturer Sanus. That documentation mentions the name of the speakers and that wall mounts will be available for both models.
The Era 300 will apparently be the more premium model and sport a completely new design compared to previous speakers. It also lines up with an earlier report from August 2022 that gave thefirst look at the high-end speaker.

The most premium of those devices is codenamed Optimo 2 — this is likely the Era 300 — and it will be a multidirectional speaker built to get the most from spatial audio. Featuring a completely rearchitected acoustic design, the Era 300 will offer the richest fidelity of any single speaker that Sonos has ever released. Aside from being better suited for immersive spatial audio music tracks, the Era 300 is also likely to offer USB-C line-in, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and potentially Bluetooth playback as well. These features were all explored during development, though some could change in the final hardware.
It’s possible that the Era 100 could be a successor to the Sonos One while featuring up-firing Dolby Atmos drivers. The Era 100 SL will apparently be the same speaker without microphones from voice control.
Both speakers will also reportedly feature automatic tuning and sound optimization.
When Will the New Sonos Speakers Arrive?
The report didn’t offer any additional idea on prices for the speakers. It only said both the Era 300 and Era 100 will arrive “in the coming months.” Sonos spent the majority of 2022 introducing lower-cost options like the Ray soundbar and Sub Mini subwoofer.

Sonos speakers have always been known for high-quality sound, for a price. The top-end smart speaker market continues to get more crowded with the second-generation Apple HomePod and other options from Google and Amazon.
