Roger had quite an adventure inOutlanderseason 7, and season 8 is all set to repeat it with a different set of characters. Storylines that revolve around time travel are often the best of the Romantacy series, and Roger’s adventures in 1739 truly delivered in this regard. He had the rare opportunity to meet a long-lost family member and played a part in ensuring his own existence. Now, going intoOutlanderseason 8, a similar opportunity may present itself to his wife, Brianna.
Outlanderseason 7, part 2, saw Roger head through the standing stones to find his son, Jemmy, in the past. However, rather than landing in the 1770s as he expected, Roger popped up in 1739. The surprises only became more extreme when Roger discovered that his own father,Jerry MacKenzie, was also wandering the Scottish countryside during this very same year. The man had accidentally landed here after his World War II plane crash-landed in the 20th century. Discovering that his father hadn’t died the way he thought was a significant twist, butthis wasn’t the only surprise of this kind inOutlander.

Brianna Is Perfectly Set Up To Meet Faith Pocock In Outlander Season 8
The Door Is Open For A New Time-Travel Adventure
Roger had always believed that his father had died when his plane crashed, but that turned out not to be true. Similarly, Brianna had never had any reason to doubt that her sister, Faith Fraser, had been stillborn—but this truth has now been challenged. Thefinale ofOutlanderseason 7saw Claire conclude that Faith had somehow lived, though the details of precisely how have yet to be explored. Unfortunately, if she somehow survived to adulthood and became Faith Pocock as Claire suspects, she isn’t alive in 1779.
Though Faith Pocock passed away by Jamie and Claire’s present in 1779 inOutlander, she would still exist in the past. Roger’s adventure in season 7 proves that it’s not too late for this character to be reunited with her family. It may be Brianna’s turn to step through the stones and meet a family membershe thought she could never talk to. As Roger did with Jerry, she may even have a chance to help Faith—not to mention learn precisely how this character came to be alive when she was stillborn inOutlanderseason 2.

Brianna Would Be The Perfect Character To Confirm Claire’s Theory About Faith
Only Time Travel Can Confirm Faith’s Survival
Time travel is likely the only way Claire can confirm her theory thatFaith Pocock and Faith Fraserare the same person. Whether she is correct or not, both characters are thought to be dead in 1779, so answers can only be found in the past. While Claire could go back in time and find her long-lost daughter herself, this would be impractical. She just took in Fanny Pocock, who is highly vulnerable following the death of her sister Jane. It would be devastating if Claire were to up and disappear on the girl. It’s simply not the sort of move she would make.
Perhaps, just as with Roger, Brianna accidentally strays when she heads through the stones.

Brianna, on the other hand, is just about to jump through time herself at the end ofOutlanderseason 7. She and Roger have taken a rest in 1739, but they are sure to attempt to join the Frasers in 1779 in the coming season. Perhaps, just as with Roger, Brianna accidentally strays when she heads through the stones. The magic of time travel often directs people to where they need to be—not where they want to go.A detour to a year when Faith is still alive would be just the thingto confirm whether Claire’s suspicion inOutlanderseason 7 is correct.
Roger’s Adventure Hints Claire & Jamie Will Never Get To Meet Faith
History Can’t Be Changed
Unfortunately, even if Brianna finds Faith in the past, it’s unlikely that she would be able to return with her to 1779 to be reunited withJamie and Claire. Roger was thrilled to meet his father in 1739, but his actions at this time were unable to change the course of history. Jerry was sent back through the stones, but that didn’t mean Roger was suddenly flooded with memories of being raised by his father. Everything that Roger did in the past only ensured his own timeline. Unfortunately,he may never learn what actually happened to Jerryafter they said goodbye.
TheOutlanderbooks confirm that Jerry died in the London Blitz along with Roger’s mother, though his body was never identified.
Jane told William that her mother’s death is what forced her to turn to prostitution. WhileOutlanderhasn’t revealed how Faith Pocock died, there is currently no reason to believe that Jane was wrong. Nothing Brianna does in the past will be able to change this. Additionally, she won’t be able to bring Faith to 1779 to meet her parentssince this would mean Faith’s children would never exist or be abandoned. The best Brianna will likely be able to do if she gets to meet Faith is tell their mother that the girl was once happy and healthy. It’s a tragic ending but fits more withOutlander’s existing trends.
