Summary
WithThe Batman - Part IIstill in the works, anotherDCspinoff show is apparently being worked on ahead of the first offshoot series. As Matt Reeves is developingThe Batman - Part II, the filmmaker is getting ready to expand his Elseworlds-based universe to the small screen. The first offshoot series that will continue this franchise isThe PenguinTV show, with Colin Farrell reprising the role of Oz Cobb.
The Batmanproducer Dylan Clark, who works closely withThe Batmancreator Reeves, confirmed toEntertainment Weeklythat another spinoff series in Robert Pattinson’s universe is currently being looked at. While not stating how far along the spinoff is at the moment, Clark added the following:

Dylan Clark: There’s another television exploration we’re going to do. We’re looking at this entire world as it relates to who Batman is — the antagonists around them, all the crime that has to be navigated in the city — and trying to figure out where are the areas that are best to explore.
What Spinoff Show Could Happen In The Batman After The Penguin
AsHBO is the new home forThe Penguin, it means Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to invest inThe Batmanfranchise on one of their biggest platforms. With that potential unlocked, it begs the question whatThe Batmanspinoff could happen afterThe Penguin, which is currently set to be a limited series. Based on the comments about the series, it will likely be about one of the Batman villains that were seen in the first film, in order to tap into familiar territory.
An interesting choice for a spinoff inThe Batmanuniverse would be a show focused on Barry Keoghan’s Joker, as he is one of the most fascinating mysteries in the franchise right now. Not only would this be a different approach from simply having him as the main villain in anotherThe Batmansequel, but a weekly series following this iteration of the Clown Prince of Crime could be a very refreshing approach for DC TV. Given how successful Joaquin Phoenix’sJokermovie was, the iconic Batman foe can definitely headline his own project.
It wouldn’t be shocking if there is perhaps an element inThe Penguinthat may allude to what spinoff could be next for HBO. If other villains from the Batman mythology end up making their debut in the show, that could setup the direction for the spinoff. With Reeves set to be at San Diego Comic-Con this week to promoteThe PenguinandBatman: Caped Crusader, perhaps that is where he will drop more clues about this new series. For now, time will tell what else will be coming out in this franchise beforeThe Batman - Part II.
