Summary
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2sees Peter Parker and Miles Morales take on avariety of different foes, from Kraven and his army of hunters to The Flame cult and Venom’s hordes of symbiotes. The first enemy types players are introduced to, however, are sand people. Insomniac’s acclaimed 2023 sequel featured perhaps the most action-packed opening in the series so far, asthe web-slinging duo faced a skyscraper-sized version of Flint Marko, a.k.a. Sandmanas he caused untold destruction across the city.
Throughout this battle,Marko spawned many human-sized versions of himself to fight, and these appeared in later side missions as the Spider-Men worked to collect all of Sandman’s memory crystals and repair his psyche. Typically, these foes can be taken on with the same array of gadgets and attacks as others in the game, with Miles' bioelectric Venom blasts turning them to glass for an easier victory. However, one player who goes bySlow_Item_3736took to Reddit to show off a different approach.

In this footage, the sand people can be seen falling apart when running toward Spider-Man as he stands above a rooftop fan, and Slow_Item_3736 also used the web-pull technique to pull these opponents over the fans, ensuring that several of them were defeated without getting close enough to hit them.

The Sand People Dispersing When Going Over Vents Makes Perfect Sense
And Is A Fun Hidden Tactic For An Easier Victory On Rooftops
While it’s not a tactic that players are informed of duringMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s various tutorials, having the sand people dispersing when going over vents makes perfect sense.Marvel’s Spider-Manalready showed avial of Sandman in one of Peter’s backpacks, showing that he had been able to capture the supervillain in the past, and in several comics and other stories - including Marko’s first appearance in 1963’sAmazing Spider-Man#4 - he has used a vacuum cleaner to capture the foe. Therefore, a fan would simply have the opposite effect, causing Sandman to blow in all directions if he wasn’t in a fully solid state.
It should be noted thatnotevery Sandman Crystal challengetakes place atop a rooftop. Therefore, players can’t always use this approach when facing the sand people on the streets or later in the depths of Sandman’s psyche.

Still, giving the sand people this additional weakness is a nice extra detail from the developers at Insomniac. It is in keeping with the character’s weaknesses while also providing something for players to discover, especially as they change up their tactics upon later playthroughs ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2,where they aren’t being guided by tutorials and prompts as much.
