Announcement Promptly Gets Made for Spring 2024 Hit’s Sequel
Confirmed just asKaiju No. 8finished broadcasting season 1, a sequel, seen effectively as season 2, was revealed to be in development. Crunchyroll quickly announced that it will stream this sequel, with the show’s trailer indicating thatKaiju No. 8’ssecond season will pick upafter season 1’s ending. Finally, the trailer for the announcement features the voice of Koki Uchiyama, who will play Gen Narumi, who acts as Kikoru’s mentor and captain of the First Division.
While the wait begins forKaiju No. 8season 2, fortunate fans can see an upcoming interactive exhibit featuring the seriesannounced on Xfor June 08, 2025. As stated on the official Kaiju No. 8 exhibition website, the event will feature stories from the comics that have been published,including moments that have not yet been animated. The experience is meant to simulate a tour of the JAKDF headquarters, along with fans getting the chance to become a Defense Force candidate, but only for those able to attend the event at Tokyo Dome City Gallery AaMo.

Kafka Hibino Achieves a Lifelong Dream with a Catch
Growing up in a society constantly ravaged by giant monsters or “kaiju,” Kafka Hibino and childhood friend Mina Ashiro pledge to each other that they’ll join the Defense Force. Mina, five years Kafka’s junior, excels and becomes the Third Division captain and a celebrity of the Defense Force who draws in recruits. At the same time, Kafka is left on monster cleanup duty, languishing in his thirties. However, Reno Ichikawa joins Kafka’s crew as a young recruit with plans to apply to the Defense Force. Kafka soon learns about the Defense Force raising its age limit,prompting him to reapply.
However, in saving Reno from a kaiju attack one day, Kafka accidentally ingests a strange kaiju parasite,which grants him shockingly powerful abilities as a humanoid kaiju.Dubbed “Kaiju No. 8” Kafka attempts to blend in while barely successfully being admitted into the Defense Force, combating increasingly tough threats until another humanoid kaiju of similar magnitude, No. 9, makes it necessary for Kafka to reveal himself. He is captured and assessed by Isao Shinomiya, father of fellow recruit and friend Kikoru Shinomiya, where it’s determined that Kafka can continue serving as a weapon for the Defense Force.

Kaiju No. 8does plenty of heavy lifting to familiarize viewers with the Third Division of the Defense Force. Still,its members will soon go in different directions to get specialized training. As teased in theKaiju No. 8sequel reveal trailer, Gen Narumi, a captain serving with the First Division, will function as Kikoru’s mentor along with broadening viewer horizons on the Numbers Weapons, initially teased with Isao and Kikoru’s use of Numbers Weapons 2 and 4. Alongside Kikoru boosting her role as a fighter on whom Kafka can rely, soon Reno will get a similar treatment.
For fans curious about whether the original team will stay apart, this won’t be the case, withKafka, Kikoru, and Reno eventually reunitingon the battlefield to share important character growth moments like in chapter #48.Kaiju No. 8season 2 should feature the Kaiju Weapon Arc, the Compatible User Arc, and possibly the Cataclysms Arcshould it retain a similar pace to season 1’s adaptation. This means the English dub cast, including Aaron Dismuke’s newly debuted Gen Narumi, will likely remain unchanged. Given their spirited portrayal of comrades-turned-friends, much of the cast should reasonably stay the same, especially as the experience of reuniting them will have that much more weight. The English dub’s cast has also been received well on the anime.Screen Rant recently interviewedseveral of the stars of Kaiju No. 8’s dub, with their portrayed characters slated to appear in the sequel. There’s not an official update yet about the English dub, but given it’s continuing to stream home at Crunchyroll, there is currently not expected recasting for any roles.
