Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Jedi Knights #2
Star Warsjust introduced the closest thing we’re ever going to get to Xenomorphs in the galaxy far, far away…so far. Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm have just released a story where two Jedi Knights encounter a new species of galactic monster that bears a major resemblance to the classic xenomorphs of theAlienfranchise. However, I think there needs to be some serious consideration about taking the idea even further.

In Marvel’s new and canonicalJedi Knights #2by Marc Guggenheim and Madibek Musabekov, Jedi Grandmaster Yoda and Jedi Knight Vetna Mooncrest are investigating the moon of Veeros and its ongoing bio-experiments controlled bythe newStar Warsvillain Atha Prime. Rather than simply growing bio-crops, the dark truth lies below in an underground lab where Prime has created legions of monsters known as the Xerexi. The intent is clearly to mimic a franchise crossover betweenAlienandStar Wars, though I can’t understand why Marvel and Lucasfilm wouldn’t just go ahead and do it for real.
We Just Got The Closest Thing To Xenomorphs In Star Wars
The Jedi Discovering The Xerexi
InJedi Knights #2, it’s revealed that the Xerexi are genetic abominations created by Atha Prime to “help cure the ills of the galaxy.“Featuring all-black skin, nearly indestructible armor with prehensile talis, the Xerexi are absolutely inspired by theAlienfranchise’s Xenomorphs. This becomes even more evident following the reveal at the issue’s end that they can even self-reproduce, much like the Xenomorphs and their deadly life cycle.
Star Wars: Yoda’s 8 Best Lightsaber Fights in History, Ranked
While they’re pretty rare, here are some of Grandmaster Yoda’s best lightsaber battles across the Star Wars timeline, ranked (on-screen and comics).
WhileAtha Prime manages to best Yoda in a duelbefore making his escape, the Jedi Order quickly eliminates all of his creations, hoping to ensure that they can never be used to lay waste to unsuspecting worlds across the galaxy. That said, one of the issue’s final pages confirms Prime has several more creatures held within containment units aboard his ship.Although this sets up a future encounter between Prime’s Xerexi and the Jedi, this single issue alone proves just how awesome a legitimateAlien vs Jedicrossover could be.

Marvel And Lucasfilm Should Seriously Think About A Non-Canon Alien vs Jedi Crossover
Disney Owns Both Properties
A canonical alien species resembling Xenomorphs in theStar Warsgalaxy is cool. However, Disney notably owns the rights to Fox and theAlienfranchise, just as they do Lucasfilm andStar Wars. Furthermore,Marvel has already donea fantasticAliencrossoverwith the Avengers, as well as crossovers withPredator. To that end, I can’t see why Lucasfilm and Marvel couldn’t similarly publish a non-canonAlien vs Jediseries. Perhaps there are plans in the works we don’t yet know about, but it certainly seems like a no-brainer, one I’m certainly crossing my fingers for after reading this new issue ofJedi Knights.
