Gboard has long been the go-to keyboard on my Android phone. However, I recently switched to the Samsung Keyboard and haven’t looked back.
1Spelling and Grammar Checker
One of the main reasons I switched to Samsung Keyboard was its seamless integration withSamsung’s Galaxy AI features. Unlike Gboard, which only has basic autocorrect, Samsung Keyboard takes things a step further.
After drafting a message, I can tap theGalaxy AIicon and use theSpelling and grammartool to review my text. This feature highlights grammatical errors, suggests corrections, and refines unclear phrasing.

Once the text is edited, I can effortlessly insert it into the message field. I find this especially useful when communicating with colleagues or composing an email on my phone if I want to avoid embarrassing typos or unclear expressions.

2Writing Style Assist and AI Composer
Beyond correcting spelling and grammatical mistakes, Samsung Keyboard also excels at adapting my text to fit various contexts. For instance, after typing a simple message like, “Can we meet later?,” I can use Galaxy AI to refine it into a professional, casual, or polite tone within seconds.
Whether I need to impress a client, chat with a friend, or communicate respectfully with someone, the Galaxy AI makes it easier to come up with text that fits a specific tone.

There’s also the Composer feature, which is equally helpful when I’m stuck for ideas. All I have to do is tap theGalaxy AIicon, provide a few details about the message, and select my desired format and tone. The AI then automatically crafts a message for me based on my input.
In contrast, Gboard doesn’t provide anything close to this level of functionality, leaving me to depend on other AI tools.

3Text Extraction Tool
WhileAndroid phones make it easy to extract text from images, it usually involves the extra steps of capturing the image and then using an OCR tool in the gallery app. Samsung Keyboard simplifies this process.
With a single tap on theExtract textoption, I can point my Galaxy phone’s camera at the text I want to capture. Once detected, I hit thePastebutton, and the extracted text is instantly ready to use.

This feature is incredibly convenient, though I don’t use it daily. Unfortunately, Gboard lacks this functionality, leaving it at a disadvantage in comparison.
4Quick Access to My Favorite Symbols
Both Samsung Keyboard and Gboard provide easy access to symbols like &, %, #, @, and more. However, what I like about the Samsung Keyboard is that it allows me to replace default symbols with the ones I use most frequently. For example, I’ve swapped $ with €, # with _, and so on to better suit my personal needs.
To do this, open Samsung Keyboard settings, tapCustom symbols, and then select the character you want to swap. It’s a small thing, but it has made my typing experience much faster and better.
5More Customization Options
Gboard offers plenty of themes, colors, and gradient options, but it’s ultimately no match for what I can do with the Samsung Keyboard, especially with Good Lock’s Keys Café module.
With it, I can personalize every detail of my keyboard to suit my style. I can change the font of the keys, pick vibrant colors, add dynamic animations, and even customize the typing sound for a completely unique experience.
6Easy Access to Samsung Pass
Finally, there’s the option touse Samsung Passintegrated right into the keyboard—a feature I didn’t realize I’d value so much until I started using it.
With Samsung Keyboard, I can tap thethree horizontal dotsin the upper right corner, select theSamsung Passicon, and voilà—it shows me my saved passwords, payment cards, addresses, and even secure notes.
It’s incredibly convenient, especially when shopping online or logging into apps. Gboard doesn’t offer anything comparable, leaving me to manually retrieve or input this data every time.
While the Samsung Keyboard may not have the same extensive reputation as the Gboard, I’ve come to appreciate its various features. If you also own a Galaxy phone, I’d highly recommend you give the Samsung Keyboard a chance—it just mightredefine your typing experience, as it did for me!
