With the Uber Explore feature, this is now possible! Unfortunately, if you’re not in a major US city, you might have to wait a while to test out the Uber Explore feature—but hopefully, new cities will be added very soon.
What Is the Uber Explore Feature?
Uber Exploreis a new feature within the Uber app that allows customers to browse and book unique experiences around their city right from the app. If you’re in one of the major cities where Uber is testing out the Explore feature, you could use the app to find and make dinner reservations, buy tickets for live events, and more.
If a customer has used Uber or Uber Eats in the past, the app takes your past user data to help personalize your Explore experience. The app uses your favorite places to go and foods you search for and recommends thebest places to explorewithin your city.
If any of the recommended restaurants or bars look fun, you’ll get 15% off your rides up to $10 as an introductory offer. Deals within the Uber Explore feature are constantly changing based on what’s popular in your area at any given moment.
When you select a bar, concert, event, restaurant, or tour, you’ll see reviews, photos, directions, and any other pertinent information for that Explore entry. You can purchase tickets to events and experiences directly through the Uber app with your Uber Cash and payment profile.
Then, tappingBook a ridethrough the event’s page plugs in a pre-populated destination, making it easy to get a one-click ride. As always, be sure to rememberstrategies for staying safe during an Uber ride.
Where Is Uber Explore Available?
The ultimate goal for Uber Explore is to be available everywhere Uber is available. But right now, only 14 major cities across the US have access to Uber Explore.
This includes Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis—St. Paul, New Orleans, New Jersey, Upstate New York, Orlando, San Antonio, San Francisco, and Seattle. Uber Explore is also available in one international city: Mexico City.
Uber plans to expand the Explore feature to more cities, but a year after the feature launched, no new cities have been added.
How to Use Uber’s Explore Feature
If you live in Mexico City or one of the eligible 14 cities within the US, your updated Uber app should automatically have the Explore feature. Or, if you end up visiting one of the cities where Uber Explore is available, you can take advantage of it through these instructions as well.
When you first open the Uber app, you’ll be on theHometab. To the right of theHometab in the bottom navigation bar, you’ll findServices. And if you tap on it, you’ll see options likeRide,Reserve, orFood.
If you’re in an eligible city for Uber Explore, you’ll see a rocket ship icon withExplorewritten underneath. To open up the Uber Explore feature and start looking around, simply tap on this icon.
On the newly loaded screen, you can search for a specific event or experience you have in mind. Or, you can browse through the available sections to see everything Uber Explore has to offer.
