Siloseason 2 stars Tim Robbins and Common explain how their characters, Bernard Holland and Robert Sims, respectively, will deal with the threat of rebellion after Juliette’s (Rebecca Ferguson) big discovery in season 1. Based on the book series by author Hugh Howey, the Apple TV+ series premiered last year, and became a big viewership hit. The season 1 finale sees Juliette discovering that the surface world truly is toxic, but her disappearance over the top of a hill and out of sight of those watching inside is set to have major repercussions inSiloseason 2.
In a recent interview withScreen Rant, Robbins and Commons comment on howthe vision of Juliette’s survival will become a major force for upheaval inSilo’s sophomore outing. Robbins teases that his character, the head of the IT department, will face some big challenges in terms of controlling the “revolutionary spirit” within the underground community. Read his comment below:

Tim Robbins: Quite a few. We’re dealing with a tumult and a kind of revolutionary spirit in the Silo, and it’s all evolving day to day. So, yeah, I have to make a lot of difficult decisions. And so does [Sims].
Sims, Bernard’s right-hand man, is revealed in the finale to not have the same level of knowledge as Bernard, and this is set to play a role in season 2.Common downplays the idea that a rift will form between the two figures, teasing that both are aligned on some key issuesrelating to the silo and the safety of its inhabitants, and this will drive their story in the upcoming episodes:

Common: I don’t think it changes the way he operates because he always knew that there was some things that he didn’t know that Bernard has access to. Bernard is the head of IT, and they’ve always been the keepers of a lot of the knowledge that is going on in the Silo.
But I think that in dealing with the revolutionary spirit, Sims is really aligned with keeping everything safe. And he has several motivations. He cares about the people of the Silo, but he also has a family, so there’s a certain thing there for him. He’s hoping that Bernard sees things the way he sees them too, so that everything can come together, and they feel like they’ve got the best way.

But there’s a discovery in the season that happens, where everything isn’t going the way either one of us wants, and we have to deal with those difficulties and with the revolutionary spirit that’s there. We’re just trying to make the best decisions for the good of the Silo.
What Juliette’s Discovery Means For Silo Season 2
Silo Already Showed The Deadly Consequences Of A Previous Rebellion
TheSiloseason 1 finalesees Juliette looking out over a barren wasteland, with numerous other silos dotting the ground before her. While Juliette’s season 2 story will see her investigating at least one of these structures, the image of her disappearing over the hill and making it further than all the others who went out to clean is a sight that is clearly inspiring rebellious feelings in those below. What those in the silo don’t realize, however, is thatthe lush greenery on their screen is a lie, and if they go outside, they’ll die.
Silo’s Riskiest Story Makes Me Worried About Apple TV+ Continuing The Sci-Fi Series After Season 2
Silo will have to eventually adapt the original books' riskiest story, making me worried about how the Apple TV+ show will continue after season 2.
The fate that could await the residents of Juliette’s silo became abundantly clear with the release of theSiloseason 2 premiere’s opening five minutes. These minutes show the residents of another silo revolting and ascending to the surface, with an abrupt cut then showing Juliette discovering all of their decomposed bodies.Holland and Sims, then, will have the difficult task of preventing a massacre, and it could mean telling the truth about the deceptive screen shown to residents.
Our Take On Bernard & Sims In Silo Season 2
Robbins & Common’s Characters Could Become More Empathetic
Both Bernard and Sims are presented as antagonistic figures in theSilocast of characters, but it’s clear that their lies and deception are in the name of preventing mass death. These intentions complicate these characters, andit adds a new wrinkle to their more devious and villainous acts, making them easier to empathize with. In season 1, audiences are led to believe that these characters can’t be trusted, but the revelations of the finale could mean that these two characters become more interesting inSiloseason 2.
