As Hal and his fellow Green Lanterns fight for their lives, the evil Varron has penetratedthe Source Lantern andhas discovered something incredible. The Source Lantern is being used todraw energy from the Emotional Spectrum and heal the Corps' former leaders, the Guardians of the Universe. However, Varron is preparing to siphon that energy for himself.

A Green Lantern Mystery is Finally Getting Answers
AfterDark Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Guardians of the Universe mysteriously disappeared and the Corps was handedover to the United Planets, with Thaaros taking control. However, Thaaros had no intentions of using the Corps for anything other than a personal army, and used new Lanterns to destroy other factions of the Emotional Spectrum. Not only was Thaaros attempting to consolidate his power over the Emotional Spectrum,he was attempting to access the power of the Source Lantern. But no matter how many parts of the Emotional Spectrum he destroyed, he could never pierce the Source Lantern’s walls.
The currentGreen Lanternrun started with a lot of mysteries, but the biggest one hanging around is where the Guardians have been this entire time. Turns out, they’ve been on Oa this whole time, healing from Koyos' attack on the Corps from the previousGreen Lanternrun. The Source Lantern, forged by an upgraded John Stewart, either intentionally or unintentionally, has been serving as a recovery chamber by channeling energy from the Emotional Spectrum into them. While this news is coming at a bad time,it could mean great things for the Green Lantern Corps' future.
They Can Refine What Thaaros Has Destroyed
Thaaros quest for power has nearly driven the Corps to the brink of destruction, and while there are still good Green Lanterns, the Corps itself is in dire need of a fresh start. Thankfully, Hal’s already discovered a new Central Power Battery on Earth that the Guardians left behind as a failsafe. Now that they have the actual Guardians back, Jordan and his comrades can rebuild the Corps on Earth. It’s not ideal, but it means that theGreen Lantern Corpswill at least be under the leadership of the people who have its best interests at heart.
