There are few beings in the Marvel Universe more powerful thanGalactusandGhost Rider, as one is a cosmic entity older than the universe itself whose entire purpose is to consume planets, and the other is a demonic powerhouse who has yet to face anyone that poses a genuine threat to him (in his weakest state, no less). Therefore, the prospect of these two fighting each other is beyond exciting, and will stand as Marvel’s ultimate cosmic face-off.

In a release fromMarvel, it was announced thatJ. Michael Straczynski will be writing a series of one-shots, each one featuring two unlikely Marvel characterseither teaming-up or facing-off. These odd pairings include Doctor Doom and Rocket Raccoon, Captain America and Volstagg, Nick Fury and Fin Fang Foom, and Hulk and Doctor Strange, just to name a few. But the one that stands out the most has to be the one-shot featuring Galactus and Ghost Rider.

Little is known about Ghost Rider and Galactus’ upcoming one-shot crossover, but the one thing fans do know is arguably the most important detail of all: the two will, in fact, be fighting each other. As previously mentioned, these one-shots will either have the featured characters teaming-up or facing-off, and the distinction is clarified in the title of each. When “&” is used, they’ll be partners, and when “VS” is used, they’ll be enemies - and the Galactus and Ghost Rider comic is a “VS”.

Ghost Rider vs Galactus: Who Will Win Marvel’s Most Epic ‘Versus’ Battle?

Both Ghost Rider andGalactus have pulled off feats of nearly incomprehensible power. Galactus regularly consumes entire planets and freely wields the Power Cosmic, giving him the power to turn even mere mortals into cosmic gods with little more than a wave of his hand. Indeed, Galactus is so powerful that almost nothing short of complete universal annihilation is enough to kill him (permanently), and his strength reaches beyond just his own universe.Galactus brought the Ultimate Universe to its knees, he defeated Dormammu in his own realm, and he single-handedly wiped out Annihilus’ Annihilation Wave.

While Galactus has proven himself to be insanely powerful, the same is true for Ghost Rider. Powered by the Spirit of Vengeance, Ghost Rider has existed in one form or another since the dawn of human existence, and each host actually acts as a power-dampener in order to keep the spirit in-check. In fact, duringWorld War Hulk, Doctor Strange concludes that Ghost Rider’s true power (without the “safety” of a host) is “boundless”, meaning that every unbelievable feat of power fans have seen from him thus far is merely a small fraction of what Ghost Rider could unleash.

Galactus vs Ghost Rider Could Conclude with a Familiar End Result

When considering a Galactus/Ghost Rider crossover, fans are inevitably reminded of their most famous one inThanos Wins, which resulted in Galactus imbuing Ghost Rider with the Power Cosmic and transforming him into Cosmic Ghost Rider. If this ‘versus’ match ends in a draw or a truce (as many often do), then it’s possible Galactus and Ghost Rider could join forces. Galactus could offer Ghost Rider the Power Cosmic, allowing him to judge souls across the universe. This could then open the door for an all-new Cosmic Ghost Rider, and a truly terrifying alliance.

While it’s possible that Galactus and Ghost Rider could join forces if their fight comes to a draw, it’s also important to remember that this one-shot isn’t an “&”, it’s a “VS”, meaning it’s very unlikely that these two will be teaming-up in any sense of the word. And that conclusion leads back to the most pressing question at hand: who will win? At this point, it’s anyone’s fight, but the one thing that fans can be sure of is thatGalactusvsGhost Riderwill finally settle Marvel’s ultimate cosmic face-off.
