Summary

Out of all the companion characters inBaldur’s Gate 3, Karlach has found a special place in the hearts of the community, as evidenced by this wonderfully chaotic cosplay that demonstrates the Barbarian flexing her might in Avernus. The Tiefling warrior, whose stature and brutality mask her wholesome energy, is a standout character in Larian Studios RPG largely because she’s arguably the only genuinely good person that can recruited to the party. Still, it’d be a mistake to see that as a weakness as with an axe in her hand, Karlach is a fearsome combatant.

This powerful energy is displayed in all its glory in this fantastic cosplaywhich was shared on Reddit by artistKonaCosplaywho, with the power of editing, provides Karlach with the fiery backgrounds she once feared.

The detail in the cosplay is remarkable asKonaCosplay has managed to recreate the leather outfit and the massive two-handed war axethat’s so large it needs to sit atop their shoulder. The finish on their make-up is also excellent, as some of the rough scars and burns visible on Karlach’s skin have been faithfully recreated for the outfit.

Why Baldur’s Gate 3’s Key Art is Missing a Key Companion

BG3’s iconic artwork for the game has one obvious exclusion, and there might be a good reason, even if it happens to be a fan-favorite companion.

Could BG3 Players See More Of Karlach?

The Tiefling Barbarian Could Return

Despite Karlach’s popularity amongst theBaldur’s Gate 3community,it’s widely agreed that her story is one of the weakest aspects of the sprawling RPG. Throughout the adventure, players have the option of dealing with theinfernal engine sitting within her chestin place of her heart courtesy of the arch-demon Zariel, but nearly every outcome is tragic. In order to prevent the engine from expanding and burning her to ash,Karlach must return to Avernus,a place of great trauma that she vows to never return to.

It’s possible for players to “save” Karlach by letting her transform into a Mindflayer but that doesn’t really count as she’s forced to turn into a monster to survive. Many players have criticized Larian for not providing Karlach with a happy endinggiven that nearly every other companion can conclude their personal stories on a cheery note. Many hoped here true ending would be revealed in a post-launch update or DLC but the studio has confirmed that this won’t be the case.
