However, many characters were shown to have switched sides by theend ofDead Reckoning, giving Ethan more partners in his ongoing, high-stakes mission. Who’s New, And Who’s Returning To Ethan Hunt’s Team in Mission: Impossible?

Like other entries in the franchise,Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoningfeatures a central crew working alongside Tom Cruise’s main protagonist. The trailer for the 2025 sequel suggests that it will follow a similar pattern, positioning these characters as the core members of Hunt’s team and part of the plan to stop the evil Entity:

Ethan Hunt

Actor Tom Cruise has long been the face of theMission: Impossiblefranchise, so it’s no surprise that he is returning to play protagonist Ethan Hunt. Since Ethan has been labeled a rogue agent for going after the Entity,The Final Reckoningcontinues his most challenging mission yet as multiple world governments seek to gain control of the AI.

Benji Dunn

Franchise regular Simon Pegg returns to play Ethan’s loyal friend and partner in the field, agent Benji Dunn. Following Ethan’s battle with Gabriel at the end ofDead Reckoning, Benji rejoins Ethan and sets off to find the submarine housing the Entity.

Luther Stickell

With Ving Rhames once again playing Luther, this professional hacker continues to be a loyal mainstay of both Ethan’s team and theMission: Impossiblefranchise. Though he went off-grid following Ilsa’s death inDead Reckoning, he still supports Ethan from the shadows, using his skills to stop the Entity from interfering with their mission.

Grace

Actor Hayley Atwell returns to play Ethan’s new ally, Grace. She first appeared inDead Reckoningas a thief sent to steal Ethan’s piece of the key to controlling the Entity. But after Ilsa sacrificed herself to save her life, Grace had a change of heart and chose to support Ethan going forward.

Paris

Portrayed by Pom Klementieff, Paris debuted in the Mission: Impossible film franchise inDead Reckoning.A skilled French assassin, Paris started out as a servant of the Entity sent to hunt down Ethan. However,The Final Reckoningshows that she has since allied herself with the IMF.

Degas

Played by Greg Tarzan Davis, Degas is a U.S. agent who also first appeared inDead Reckoning. Working alongside his partner, Jasper Briggs, on behalf of the Community, he is sent to stop Ethan after he is labeled a rogue agent. Like Paris and Grace, Degas is shown to have switched sides and joined Ethan’s team.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoningintroduced Paris and Degas to the film franchise, but they were far from allies of Ethan in the beginning. Paris starts out as a ruthless killer working for Gabriel, but her allegiance changes after Ethan spares her life and Gabriel stabs her and leaves her to die. She then chooses to save Ethan’s life and help him find the Entity. Whether this was done for honor, vengeance, or both remains unclear. Either way, Paris has proven to be a valuable new asset to Ethan’s team.

Meanwhile, Degas and his partner Jasper were simply sent to apprehend Ethan and his team inDead Reckoning. However, the former began to question if Ethan was actually doing the right thing, implying that he would support Ethan in his quest to stop the Entity. The trailer forThe Final Reckoningseems to reveal this, as he and Paris are shown sitting with Benji and Grace like they’re part of Ethan’s team.

What are your thoughts on the Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning trailer?

After years of waiting, the first Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning trailer has arrived, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about what it shows. Granted, the attempt to push a feeling of finality for the sequel feels a little over the top, particularly with the conflicting reports of Paramount and Tom Cruise’s feelings on the future of the franchise. But, that said, the trailer showcases a lot of stylish action, some emotional moments, and the promise to finally make it to the submarine hosting The Entity is enticing.

All in all,The Final Reckoningseems ready to change the status quo of theMission: Impossiblefilm franchise as its final installment. With the world hanging in the balance and bonds broken, Ethan has found himself racing against the clock with new partners supporting him in his mission to destroy the Entity. Since any one of the characters may not make it out of this sequel alive,Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoninghas presented itself as the most exciting chapter in the franchise.
