BATMAN SAVES A TINY ALIEN

The mystery deepened when Green Lantern’s ring, which contains a database of all known aliens, failed to identify the new arrival—an unprecedented occurrence. Amidst misunderstandings and radiation poisoning, Batman and the alien formed a clear bond, prompting Guy Gardner to jokingly suggest Bruce make the alien his new Robin.

Green Lantern Guy Gardner Nominates Alien To Be Batman’s New Robin (& Bruce Is Definitely Considering It)

First Appearance inBatman: The Brave and the Bold#13 (May 2024) by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Lisandro Estherren

Throughout the invader storyline, Batman suffered mental attacks and radiation burns whenever he approached the alien. However, he soon realized the alien was also experiencing radiation poisoning from Earth, causing it to unintentionally harm him in return. This prompted Batman to instruct Guy Gardner to create a force field around the alien to protect it from Earth’s ambient radiation. With the alien no longer being harmed, Batman was able to communicate and assure it that he and Guy would help repair its ship so it could return home.In a universal sign of gratitude, the alien extended its hand towards Batman.

This show of gratitude prompts Guy to jokingly say, “Looks like you’ve got a little pal, Batman. Put him in short shorts and a mask, and you can solve crimes together.”The Dark Knight tells Guy to shut up, but in the following panels, his admiration for the alien is clear. Batman’s internal dialogue reveals that the alien is from a species that keeps to themselves, exploring the galaxy and charting their own path in life,“Letting their curiosity rule their lives. It’s admirable.”It’s evident that Batman is absolutely smitten with the little alien.

Dick Grayson may have been the original Boy Wonder to fight along Batman’s side, but he was by far the last to don the Robin name and pixie boots.

Batman Is No Stranger to Taking on Aliens as Robin (See: JARRO the Star Wonder)

First Appearance inJustice League#10 (December 2018) by Scott Snyder and Francis Manapul

Some might scoff at the idea of Batman making this unnamed alien a Robin, but it wouldn’t have been the first time Bruce enlisted a non-human in his crusade for justice. Jarro, the psychic starfish Batman grew in a jar from a sample of Starro, proved that Bruce’s love extends beyond the human race.Batman even considered Jarro his own son, famously declaring, “… my favorite Robin ever. No, I mean it. My favorite ever.” So, it wouldn’t have been entirely out of the realm of possibility forBatmanto seriously considerGreen Lantern’ssuggestion to make the alien inThe Invaderhis newRobin.
