“Partnership Of Convenience”: Daniel & Johnny’s Cobra Kai Season 6 Relationship Detailed By Showrunner

Summary

Cobra Kaiseason 6 showrunner Josh Heald updates the titular dojo’s status after the defeat of villainous sensei Terry Silver. Season 5 ended with an epic battle pitting the united forces of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang against big bad Silver’s truly merciless version of Cobra Kai. By the finale episode’s end, Silver’s devious activities had been exposed, and his former students turned against him, leaving his and his dojo’s status up in the air going intoCobra Kaiseason 6.

Big bad Silver may be out of the picture following those action-packed events, but though the Cobra Kai dojo may have lost its leader, it is not necessarily gone for good. Check out showrunner Heald’s remarks on the dojo’s status below (viaEW):

Terry Silver’s Cobra Kai is gone for good. It was destroyed at the end of last season and we’re seeing the remnants of that being thrown away and demolished. We begin our season in peacetime in the valley for the first time in a while. It’s nice. It’s the first time since the first episode of the series that there is no Cobra Kai in the Valley. Whether that means Cobra Kai is done for good remains to be seen because like you said, Cobra Kai never dies. It was a new and interesting place to start, seeing all the characters that we care about dealing with the aftermath of victory. We attempt to let the characters enjoy that for as long as they can before conflict rears its ugly head.

Miyagi-Do And Eagle Fang Are Not Done With Cobra Kai In Season 6

Heald’s tease that “Cobra Kai never dies” was firmly backed up by the recently-released season 6 trailer, which briefly shows John Kreese back in charge of students alongside Silver’s former partner Kim Dae-Eun, seemingly preparing for a final battle against Daniel’s Miyagi-Do and Johnny’s Eagle Fang. Kreese seemed permanently out of the picture inCobra Kaiseason 5, when he was apparently killed in prison, but it was later revealed that he faked his death and made his escape.

Kreese actually didn’t need to fake his death and escape, of course, because by the end of season 5, Silver was exposed as the one who assaulted Stingray, a revelation that exonerated Kreese of the same crime (his legal status remains somewhat in question after he faked his death and escaped, but it seems the law has given him a pass). Now that his name has been cleared, Kreese is free to gain his own revenge by bringing Cobra Kai back to life and instilling his new students with his own particular brand of merciless karate.

Cobra Kai’s super-sized season 6 is broken into three parts of five episodes each

It’s likely that the Cobra Kai dojo will return to further menace the Valley, forcing the triumphant kids ofMiyagi-Do and Eagle Fangback into the ring for one more battle. As for Silver himself, it’s yet to be seen if he will return to mix it up, but it’s possible that the vanquished bad guy still has a move or two left to play before he surrenders.Cobra Kaibrings things back somewhat full-circle by restoring Kreese as the villain, but with 15 episodes to fill, there’s plenty of room to give Silver his own shot at revenge.
