Netflix’s originalCastlevaniaseries doesn’t start out with its best season, and this fact makes me even more excited about the potential future ofCastlevania: Nocturne. Netflix’sCastlevaniaseries is the adaptation of the beloved video game series, with it chronicling the story of Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard as they attempt to thwart Dracula Vlad Tepes' plans to overthrow the world with his vampire army. After four seasons ofCastlevania, Netflix followed it up with a sequel series titledCastlevania: Nocturne, a series that could turn into a massive multi-season saga of its own.

The sequel show follows a descendant of Trevor named Richter Belmont, another monster hunter who attempts to stop a vampire uprising during the days of the French Revolution. The sequel series heavily pulls from the video gamesCastlevania: Rondo of BloodandCastlevania: Symphony of the Night, with the potential to adapt these games being one of the most exciting parts ofCastlevania: Nocturnefor me in the time leading up to the show’s release.
Castlevania: Nocture Season 2 Should Be Incredible Based On Castlevania
I really enjoyed season 1 ofCastlevania: Nocturne, and while there were a lot of great things in the first eight episodes, I didn’t think it was as good as Netflix’s originalCastlevaniaseries. However, I still think thatCastlevania: Nocturnehas the potential to get better, as season 2 should be incredible based on the story of the originalCastlevaniaseries.The four-episode first season of the originalCastlevaniashowwas a promising start to the series, with it acting as a proof of concept for a massiveCastlevaniasaga. However, this wasn’t the show’s best season.
Despite having beautiful animation, among many other aspects that became key reasons why I loved the originalCastlevaniain later seasons,Castlevaniaseason 1 just wasn’t as good as its predecessors. Season 1 is mostly setup for the later seasons, introducing the world and the story without fully delving into the characters and broader story. WhileCastlevania: Nocturnedoesn’t follow this exact structure, it had to do many of the things that season 1 did, meaning thatCastlevania: Nocturneseason 2 could improve on its preceding season in the same way.

Why Castlevania Season 2 Was The Show’s Best
Castlevaniaseason 2 was easily my favorite season of the show, with it improving on season 1 and not being topped by the subsequent two seasons.Castlevaniaseason 2 is much bigger and bolder than its predecessor, with it finally focusing on the trio of Trevor, Sypha, and Alucard as they attempt to take on the looming threat of a vampire uprising. Season 2 had double the amount of episodes as the first one, and since it didn’t have to focus on worldbuilding as much, it was able to focus on crafting its incredible characters and story.
I’m still a huge fan ofCastlevaniaseasons 3 and 4, but they are a lot less focused than season 2. The characters are all split up, the pace is slower, and the plans that each character is trying to carry out are a lot more complex. The scale of the later seasons is a big too grand when compared to season 2 ofCastlevania, with it losing its laser focus that made me fall in love with season 2.
