Who Is Oswalda Cobblepot & How Penguin Fits Into Batman: Caped Crusader
While her role throughoutBatman: Caped Crusaderremains to be seen, seeing The Penguin imagined as a woman will be interesting. This is the first time any Batman adaptation has made this change to The Penguin, as Oswald is traditionally depicted as a man in animated and live-action stories. As far as the comics go, there has never been an Oswalda, makingBatman: Caped Crusaderunique for their version of The Penguin.
Given thatBatman: Caped Crusaderwill take place in the 1940s, Oswalda will likely factor into the series as a crime figure. However, with details still being limited about this new direction for The Penguin, time will tell if she is a recurring villain inBatman: Caped Crusaderor the main threat. Nevertheless, this could be a very exciting way of exploring The Penguin, especially as there are definitely many more male villains in Batman’s rogue’s gallery in comparison to the amount of female antagonists that he deals with in the comics.
