The Guardian Statues protect the Emerald Grove inBaldur’s Gate 3. They are a fire elemental trap situated along the grove’sUnderground Passage. Going to this location isn’t required to complete the main scenario. But, if you want to explore everywhere, it can be very useful to disable the Guardians. That way, they will no longer attack and allow you an additional means of going in and out of the zone.
It is much easier to disable any form of trap by usingTurn-Based modeinBaldur’s Gate 3. This stops time and allows each character to more precisely move and act in a six-second window. This can be enough leeway to sneak, get into position, and turn off the device without getting caught. A tactic like this is especially helpful if the grove is already hostile, such as if youattempted to steal the Druid Idol.

Sneaking And Disabling The Guardian Statues
Going In Undetected
Each of the Guardian Statues can be turned off by interacting with theRune of the [Animal]that is under them or nearby. This is a blue rectangle that sits low to the ground and corresponds to the animal such as Eagle, Bear, and Wolf. Pressing this button once will disable the corresponding statue.
Should You Enter The Planecaster In Baldur’s Gate 3?
During the githyanki crèche questline in Baldur’s Gate 3, Vlaakith asks you to enter the Planecaster and kill her prisoner. Here’s what this affects.
The Guardians themselvesdetect by sight, but cannot see in the dark. The most direct means of getting by them isusing the Hide actionand slowly walking through the shadows. They will make Stealth checks by rolling a D20 as they move and adding their Dexterity Bonus. A Rogue character like Astarion is a great choice. You can easily improve your Hide ability by usingspecialized Rogue equipmentlike theDrow Studded Leather Armour.

YouTuberGalaxy Tech Reviewpreferred to skulk quietly. They used Real-Time mode, which can be a bit more dangerous if you misstep or are seen inBaldur’s Gate 3. In those cases, it might be a good idea to drink anElixir of Fire Resistancein order to take less damage.
Using A Bit Of Magic
If your current partylacks a strong dice roll, you can also slip by with a few magic spells.Invisibilityis a great option as it makes the caster undetectable to enemies. Both Gale and Wyll have the option of learning this spell when reaching the third level inBaldur’s Gate 3. Player-made characters can also pick this spell if they are aBard,Warlock,Wizard,Sorcerer,Circle of the Land Druid,Arcane Trickster Rogue, orEldritch Knight Fighter. The spell can also be found in the form of aPotion of Invisibilitythat can be drunk by anyone.
Misty Stepis also another option, as it allows the caster to teleport to a new location. Just be sure that spot is not out in the open and targetable by the Guardian Statues. All fifth-level Githyanki characters can use thisonce per Long Rest. I tend to use Lae’zel in my party witha respec or class change, so Misty Step is always available. The spell is also an option forSorcerers,Wizards,Warlocks,BardsviaMagical Secrets,Circle of the Land Druids,TheAncients Paladins,Vengeance Paladins,Arcane Trickster Rogues, andEldritch Knight Fighters.

Helping Findal
Take Time to Save The Druid
If this is your first time exploring the Underground Passage, you will also find an unconsciousDruid named Findalbeing accosted by Goblins. If you are feeling evil - or are simply more focused on the Guardian Statues - you may let him die. He even drops arare armor inBaldur’s Gate 3, theArcane Circlet. But, if you want to be more heroic you should end your mechanical pursuits and help the bystander.
The Goblin enemies are made up of four second-level foes. They each have 10 HP and are small in size. They are easily killed by weapons or magic. Afterward, heal Findal with any curative magic or potion.

The fight to save Findal is rather close to one of the Guardian Statues. Depending on which direction you approach from, it might still be active and will fire upon you during the Goblin encounter. It is a wise idea to turn it off beforehand, or use some of your turns in battle to focus on the Guardian.
Regardless of what you do with the Druid, you will now be free to take care of the remaining Guardian Statues inBaldur’s Gate 3. The Underground Passage does have a few random treasures and other items to sell for gold. Otherwise, there isn’t much reason to come back as the front gate of Emerald Grove and most Waypoints are more accessible.
