Miss Martian Was a Cool Alternative to the Martian Manhunter
Miss Martian first appeared in 2006’sTeen Titans#37
In the early 2000s, Geoff Johns breathed new life into the Teen Titans franchise, bringing together a mixture of Titans old and new, as well as introducing exciting new characters to the mythos, such as Miss Martian.Like the Martian Manhunter, she is one of the last survivors of her homeworld. Unlike J’onn, however, she is a member of the White Martians. Most White Martians are savage and warlike, but Miss Martian bucks this trend. After being teased as a potential traitor, Miss Martian would go on to become a valuable member of the Teen Titans.

Although Miss Martian’s time with the Teen Titans was relatively short, she made a lasting impression on fans and creators, including the creative team behind theYoung Justiceanimated series, who incorporated her into the show.

By virtue of her Martian heritage, Miss Martian was a powerhouse, bringing all of J’onn J’onnz’s abilities to the Teen Titans. In addition to this serious boost in power, Miss Martian also provided a great counterpoint to the Martian Manhunter. More youthful than J’onn, she brought a fresh perspective to the Martian Manhunter’s character.
