Calvin has no issue using his snowman army to protest the injustice of having to eat a dinner that he doesn’t like. With this in mind, it makes sense that he’d use the same tactic on his own father. Instead of simply bringing up his desire for a later bedtime,Calvin vents this through his snowmen, who form a picket fence around the house,positioned perfectly to greet his father as he returns homefrom work.
It’s a hilarious look at the desires of a young child and just how far he’ll go to try and get them. It’s both a hilarious and terrifying idea, which is completely on brand for Calvin.
Naturally, the idea of Calvin creating a snowman that proudly flashes their entire neighborhood draws great concern from his mother, leading to Calvin being denied the chance to create the world’s first anatomically correct snowman. Maybe if Calvin had approached this smarter, and simply repurposed the iconic snowman carrot nose, things would have turned out differently for him.

Calvin perfectly demonstrates this in a ton of different ways, but one of the most famous ways is what he often does with his snowmen. Sometimes this isn’t enough for Calvin, and he decides to take a more active role in his gruesome snow displays. That’s where Susie usually calls it quits and walks home.Instead of playing in a way that Susie finds morally acceptable, Calvin, somehow, gets his hands on a saw and decides to dissect a snowman in front of her, which is more than most people could understandably handle.

Naturally, as a pretty small kid, there isn’t much Calvin can do to get back at people who have earned his ire. That’s why, like most kids, he instead falls back on his imagination.

It’s fairly sadistic, but there really isn’t any other option for Calvin to vent his feelings of frustration with those he dislikes.
