Summary

Developers at Blizzard continue to improveDiablo 4little by little with each new season of content, continually showing that they are listening to the player feedback and making large changes. There are still many things that should be added to or corrected about the game, however, in order to satisfy much of the audience. WithDiablo 4’s expansion,Vessel of Hatred, looming on the horizon forrelease this October, it brings into question whetherDiablo 4can justify asking players to spend more money on the DLC while the base game remains a bit shaky in its reception within the community.

Diablo 4developers have expressed in interviewsand campfire chats how much they value and are listening to feedback from the community and using it to make the game into the best it can be to provide the most fun for its players. Huge changes have already been implemented which have significantly improved the game fromwhere it was at launch in 2023, yet there is still more that needs to be seen. Some quality of life improvements, and additional content could do a lotto make the base game a solid foundation before the DLC releases in a few months.

10More Uniques That Are Build-Defining

Give Players New Possibilities To Think About

Several of the unique items inDiablo 4can be used as build-defining items, meaning that the item is so good that it tempts endgame players to respec their characters to work specifically around the abilities of that item. Having two or three of these powerful uniques that synergize together is one of the best ways to make a powerful endgame character, but can end up being fairly limiting, as there are only a couple of superb uniques for each class.

One of the most fun aspects of a game likeDiablo 4is trying out different abilitiesand skills to create powerful builds that are not the same as everyone else is using. Of course, uniques should be difficult to come by, yet creating a way for there to be more worthwhile, build-defining uniques for players to experiment with would give more opportunities for players to get creative with their strengths and flex more of the skills available in the game.

9The Chance To Roll A Greater Affix When Enchanting

Greater Affixes Could Still Be Difficult To Obtain, But Give Players A Chance

Greater Affixes are part of the revamped system introduced withDiablo 4Season 4’s overhaul to loot. Therefore, at the time of writing, this is still a pretty new idea, and it has been met with mixed results from players.Greater Affixes are only available on dropped Legendary and Unique loot after defeating enemies, and cannot be crafted or applied by players to different items. A Greater Affix is very rare, and they can provide bonuses much better than standard Affixes.

Developers likely made it so that Greater Affixes only came from dropped loot to help make it even more exciting to find new items. This does serve that purpose, butit alsomakes it a bit frustrating that players have no control over it. If Greater Affixes were available from Enchanting, even if it was very difficult and costly to do, simply knowing there was that chance would help alleviate much of the despair that players feel from the lack of control.

Greater Affixes are game changes in Diablo 4, and can be farmed by defeating enemies in the Nightmare Dungeons, The Pit and by hunting Blood Maidens.

8Cellars Are Currently A Missed Opportunity

Make Them More Unique & Creative

Cellars are an area ofDiablo 4that the developers already know needs to be improved upon, as they have stated in past campfire chats that they are working on them. Currently, cellars are essentially micro-dungeons which only take about a minute or twoto complete, and while they can sometimes provide decent loot, many players simply skip over them as there is very little incentive to go inside.

The basic idea of cellars is good, but just needs a bit more to make them worthwhile. Perhaps adding more variety to their appearance, making them more hidden as a secret location, or even adding unique achievements or rewards that can only be obtained by completing cellars.Ultimately, this is a missed opportunityas the content is already laid out, but just needs a little nudge to become a very fun aspect of the game.

7More Pets & Mounts That Don’t Cost Real Money

More In-Game Options

Just recently,Diablo 4devs finally added pets to the game, after they were a much loved feature ofDiablo 3and many people requested their addition to the current title. The Pets tab is now available as part of the customization screen in the Wardrobe, and pets can be useful for collecting resources and gold, although they are non-combat companions. Pets and mounts both add a lot of joy to the game through the variety of appearances that they can have.

Unfortunately, there are very few chances to get additional versions of pets or mounts in the gamewithout spending real-world money. Some are available as part of the seasonal Battle Pass content, which does have a free tier in addition to the paid one, but the free tier does not always include these rewards, and many are available for purchase. For players who may not have the financial means to buy these cosmetic animals, there should be more options through achievements or questlines to unlock more, even if they are not quite as flashy as the ones for sale.

How To Get a Pet In Diablo 4 & What They Do

Pets are useful in Diablo 4 for collecting valuable resources and the first of them can be added by completing the simple Faithful Companion quest.

6More Test Dummies To Know Damage Stats Would Be Helpful

Encouraging Players To Test Their Builds

There actually is one, and only one, training dummy inDiablo 4. It is located in Kyovoshad near the world tier statue. This dummy can be configured to act as either a Normal, Elite, or Boss training dummy, and players can choose to have multiple rather than just one. Unfortunately, this is the only place in the entire game that has a training dummy.

Each of the major cities in the game should have a training dummy located somewhere within the city walls. In a game as chaotic asDiablo 4can be, with massive mobs attacking at once or large groups doing damage, utilizing a training dummy would help players who are trying to maximize their buildsto have a benchmarking tool of how much damage they do with different abilities, without getting killed in the process.

5More World Bosses Would Add Variety

Three Just Isn’t Enough

InDiablo 4,world bosses are massive, formidable enemies who show up at certain timesand locations in Sanctuary and are much more difficult than other opponents. Up to 12 players can group together for the battle, and there is a time limit of only 15 minutes to complete the task. Server notifications go up shortly before one spawns to help gather players together to take them down, and the loot that is dropped can include a high probability of getting some quality armor and more.

While this is a fun challenge to take on, and worthwhile for the loot and achievements, the battles can become a bit tedious for players who want to fight world bosses regularly.Currently, there are only three world bosses inDiablo 4: Wandering Death, Avarice, and Ashava. Adding even one or two more world bosses into the rotation would add some variety and cause some fresh excitement for players.

4Eternal Realms Need An Eternal Purpose

Players Need Reasons To Return Rather Than Always Doing Seasonal Realms

With each new season, players must start a new character in the limited-time Seasonal Realmsin order to access the unique content for that period. After the season, those characters are transferred to the normal, Eternal Realm and lose any thematic seasonal features. For most players, the Eternal Realm holds many characters that they have played and loved through the seasons, or even used to journey through the main storyline campaign ofDiablo 4.

This rotation of seasonal content leaves many players focusing only on Seasonal Realm charactersand content, and very rarely, if ever, returning to the Eternal Realm. Though there is nothing wrong with this, there are many who would greatly appreciate some incentives in the Eternal Realm as well. Some players prefer to stick to Eternal simply to continue with the same character and not deal with constant rotations of new seasonal themes, but, by doing so, they miss out on the unique transmogs, story add-ons, and other extras. Providing regular achievements or objectives specifically tied to the Eternal Realm would breathe more life into those servers.

3A Way To Easily Apply All Owned Pieces Of The Same Cosmetic

Could Be As Simple As A Button In The Wardrobe

Even in the dark and dangerous world of Sanctuary, the traveler still needs to look their best.Diablo 4has a vast assortment of transmogs and cosmetics availableto make characters look fashionable while taking down the Butcher or other gruesome foes. It can be fun to mix and match some of these transmogs for a truly unique look, but often players enjoy donning the complete set for the matching outfit.

When changing the character’s appearance at the Wardrobe in town, players have to find and select every piece of an outfit, which sometimes can be a bit tedious and time-consuming to find. Though it seems a small thing, having a button that would automatically apply all owned pieces of the same cosmetic setwould be a feature appreciated by Sanctuary’s fashionistas.

2More Bag Space Would Be A Huge Luxury

Players Want The Loot

Realistically, the amount of weapons and gear and other loot that a character picks up and carries around with them - in addition to everything they are already equipped with - is fairly absurd to think about.Diablo 4is pretty generous then in allowing players to have as much inventory space as they do have. Also, recent changes to not requiring gems to take up inventory space has also helped provide more roomin the bags.

That said,Diablois a franchise known for large amounts of loot, which is part of the fun of this dungeon crawler. Although it is easy to run to town to sell and pop back to the dungeon or wherever they were, it still is not fun to have to do that frequently. Many players get around this by only picking up the best loot, butthe game would be more enjoyable simply by having a bit more bag space.

1World Bosses Should Have A Timer That Shows On The Map

Give Players An Idea When One Will Appear

The three world bosses that show up in Sanctuary often require large groups of players to defeat them, as they are much stronger than normal monsters in the game. One of the three world bosses will spawn every three and a half hours, can appear in one of five different areas with one location in each zone, and must be defeated in 15 minutes or less. Because of this rarity, it can be confusing for a player jumping into the game to know how long it will be until a world boss will appear.

Players will receive a notification in-game one hour before the spawn with a world boss icon appearing on the map, and 15 minutes before the spawn an alert will go out for players. If someone does not see these notifications, or is not online at those times, they have to rely on outside sources to have a prediction of when the next boss will be. Therefore,it would be useful forDiablo 4to have an optional countdown timerthat could appear on the minimap or even in town somewhere to help players easily keep track of times.

Diablo 4

Players are set to return to the world of Sanctuary in Diablo 4. Set after the events of Diablo 3’s Reaper of Souls DLC, Lilith, the daughter of Mephisto, has been summoned to the world and has assumed power in the absence of demons and angels. Lilith establishes Sanctuary as a haven for refugees caught in the crossfire between hell and heaven. Wanting to protect her kind from the recently emerged Nephelem, Lilith is banished to the void. Now she has returned, seeking revenge for the crimes committed against her
